It is always good to have a little "history" about how things evolve. I wonder why Ralph didn't mention my proposal back in 1996?

Notice: In SCSI-3, this is replaced by auto contingent allegiance (ACA), since the sense data is given with autosense (in the same message than the CHECK CONDITION status of the scsi command response).

No more request sense is needed to get the complete error description (sense data). But ACA is needed to forbid execution of new command before initiator has shown it has seen the error using a CLEAR ACA task management.

A good history about Contingent Allegiance, ACA, Autosense : http://www.pdl.cmu.edu/mailinglists/ips/mail/msg03427.html
